DESCRIPTION:Making hats by braiding natural fibres is considered an art by some\, but at one time\, it was simply a fact of life.  During the late 18th to early 19th centuries\, the wearing of straw hats by farmers and laborers was quite common in both North America and Europe\, since the materials were inexpensive and readily available. This weekend\, Ross Farm staff will be demonstrating the traditional art of Straw-hat braiding.

July 29th @NRCS \nThis year\, we are offering 7 FREE drop-in programs from 4-6:00pm for all ages\, that will offer 2 hrs of fun and play in some of the great recreation spaces in our community.  Our Summer Rec Staff will travel into the communities with lots of games and toys in hand.  We are hoping to showcase the amazing spaces that we have in our community to play with your friends.  Each week we will have a unique location with a unique twist to how the space can be used for fun activities ie. the Chester Basin Rec Park has great lake access and ACES offers a nice hiking trail back to a beautiful lake area.  We hope you will join us to see the amazing recreation capacity that our municipality has to offer.
