DESCRIPTION:Make a bucket! Basic coopering workshop at Ross Farm Museum! \nDescription: Come to Ross Farm Museum to learn about basic coopering and make your own bucket. Taught by Ross Farm coopers\, students will begin in the woods\, identifying the types and qualities of trees to make barrel and bucket staves. They will then see the process of milling the lumber into bucket components and be taught how to joint and fabricate their own bucket using hand tools. It should be a fun learning event that takes you from forest to product. \nWhen: April 30 9:00 – 4:30. Lunch break from 12:00-1:00 \nPrice: $150.00 \nMaximum 6 participants – no minimum age\, no experience required. \nPlease wear green tag\, CSA approved steel toe boots. Please sign the waiver on the booking system\, or in person on arrival at Ross Farm Museum. Participants are covered under Ross Farm Museum’s insurance. \nMinimum age 16 years old. \nPlease book online at: rossfarm.novascotia.ca or call 902-689-2210 to register by April 28\, 2022. Payment must be received by April 28 to reserve a spot. \nIndividuals’ preference for masking and social distancing will be respected. This event will take place both outdoors and indoors. This year our two themes are the Wonders of Maple Syrup where you and the family will learn about the history of Maple Syrup and how the sap is collected and boiled down into the delicious treat we all know and love. DESCRIPTION:Snowshoeing at Ross Farm \nDate: Thursday\, March 10th\, 2:00 – 4:00 pm (weather and trail conditions will be checked the day before). \nLocation: Meet at the New Ross Family Resource Centre to collect your snowshoes. We will then walk over to the Lion’s Gate park and begin using the trails around Ross Farm to explore on snowshoes. \nFree\, open to everyone. Under 16\, must be accompanied by an adult. \nRegistration is required by: Monday\, March 7th\, call 902-689-2414 or email nrfrckaren@gmail.com \nParticipants should consider: weather appropriate clothing\, water bottle\, sunglasses and camera\, if you desire.

SUMMARY:Christmas in the Country @ Ross Farm
DESCRIPTION:As part of the New Ross Christmas Festival\, staff at Ross Farm have put together a great program for your enjoyment.  Step back in time to experience Christmas in the Country. Treats and refreshments will be enjoyed in the Hearth Room (due to space limitations in Rosebank Cottage). \nEnjoy a walk around the farm while you keep an eye out for our family of gnomes hiding all throughout the property\, find them all for a little treat at the gift shop on your way out. \nWeather permitting\, there will be horse drawn wagon rides. \nFather Christmas will be there for a visit both days! \nTimeslots: 9am-12pm and 1:30-4:30pm Dec 4th and 5th \nThis event is by booking only with a maximum of 150 individuals per time slot.
