Making hats by braiding natural fibres is considered an art by some, but at one time, it was simply a fact of life.  During the late 18th to early 19th centuries, the wearing of straw hats by farmers and laborers was quite common in both North America and Europe, since the materials were inexpensive and readily available. This weekend, Ross Farm staff will be demonstrating the traditional art of Straw-hat braiding.

Ross Farm Trip

New Ross offers so much historic value to our community.  Join the Summer Rec Staff in their adventure through Ross Farm as we get a lesson about its historic roots and agriculture.  Lots of history will be seen at every turn as we venture through their workshops and classrooms and barns.  All their farm animals love to see visitors and you'll even get to take part in a wagon ride!
