Time for a leisurely walk along our hiking/walking trails. Four trails of interest include The Lion’s Park (4670 Hwy 12)-where you can have a picnic or meander down the scenic walkway to the meadow look-off and walk along the lake shores to take in our beautiful views. Second, is Ruby’s Trails (56 Forties Rd) located on a working Christmas Tree Farm. This trail has both a special meaning and a special spot “Ruby’s Spot” which boosts expansive views of the Village below and the rolling hills beyond. Third, is Popnar Hill Trail (136 New Russell Rd.) a combination of woodland trail and tree-lot road, it is 2.5K uphill on the way up to the ridge, and downhill on the way back. At the ridge you have a wonderful view of the village of New Ross, Porcupine Hill, and distant views of the ocean. Lastly, Larder’s Lane Trail, built to connect Lion’s Park trail, and the school, to Ruby’s Trail this trail was named Larder’s Lane in recognition of Pat & Neta Larder, who in 1946, purchased the land the trail is built on. This short walk through a beautiful forest with tall evergreens is sure to spark imagination and great memories of years gone by.
