Food Security Programs

Did you know we have some great food security programs right here in New Ross? The New Ross Family Resource Centre is doing an amazing job to hear the needs of the community and offer four wonderful programs:

Produce Box

Every month, they will have boxes filled with seasonal, locally sourced produce. These boxes feature a diverse assortment of produce, including apples, lettuce, beets, tomatoes, squash, carrots, onions, potatoes, and corn on the cob, depending on the time of year. This program runs from May until November each year.

Each box costs $25.00.

Seed Kits

Each spring we offer seed kits usually containing the following: Yellow Beans, Green Beans, Carrots, Peas, Beets, Lettuce, Pumpkin, Kale, and a gift card to purchase few transplants. This program has a maximum capacity set at 36 and is free for parents in the New Ross/Chester area. Please call 902-689-2414 when registration opens.

Community Cupboard

The Community Cupboard is free and open for New Ross, Chester, & surrounding areas during our regular business hours for those who need pantry and hygiene items. Take what you need, leave what you can. There are no limits or restrictions. We cannot guarantee having anything in stock. Funded by donations and grants, when available.
