Snowshoe the Heights of New Ross
February 24, 2018 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Hike with us up the Old Annapolis Road toward Poplar Hill and the ridge that overlooks the Gold River valley, and back on the crossroads of the Village. It’s a lovely walk through the woods before the trail emerges onto a windswept tree lot. The trail may,or may not, be packed down by snowmobiles by then, but this will be a snowshoe hike regardless. This hike is considered moderate to difficult (depending on weather and snowpack). The topography varies from flat to gentle hills so although the roundtrip is about 6.5 kilometers, it may feel longer by the end. We will have a snowmobile on call for emergency purposes only. This hike is being hosted in partnership with the New Ross Regional Development Society’s Trail Team; and is supported by members of the Snowmobile Association of Nova Scotia (SANS). Bring your own snowshoes, or request a pair upon registration. Dress for cold and wind. Layers are a good strategy to managing the relative warmth of a sheltered trail, and the exposure on the ridge. Bring lunch, trail snacks, and water.
