We don't tap a lot of trees at Ross Farm Museum, but we still have fun with maple syrup. Sample maple syrup and pancakes in Rosebank Cottage, learn about the process of tapping trees, collecting sap and boiling sap down over an outdoor fire. Enjoy a sweet day at the museum.
This weekend our interpreters will be demonstrating the traditional art of snowshoe making. We have snowshoes available for you to experience snowshoeing first hand.

The snowshoes will be available at the Lion's Park entrance if requested at time of registration, snowshoes are provided by the Chester Recreation Department. The New Ross Refugee Welcome Group will be hosting a soup, biscuit or roll, homemade cookie, tea/coffee lunch in the Hearth Room at Ross Farm Museum. Eat in or take out. $8.00/person, 11:30am - 1:00pm on three Friday's in February (Feb. 12, 19, and 26th)
Making hats by braiding natural fibers is considered an art by some, but at one time, it was simply a fact of life. This weekend staff will demonstrate hat-making using strips of wood known as "sheens" stripped from freshly gathered yellow-birch logs.
Available at the New Ross Family Resource Centre from 8:30am to 10:00am with a cost of $10. Home visits are 7:30am to 8:30am and 10:00am to 11:00am with a cost of $20. If you have any questions please call Coleen Hull at 902-624-0406. Water sample bottle are available.
