Christmas Festival a success!
The 25th Annual New Ross Christmas Festival was a huge success! The weatherman and Mother Nature provided us with a wonderful weekend, and hundreds of people took advantage. The festival started with the Legion’s potluck supper on Friday evening, and was followed by the lighting of our beautiful tree and a visit from Santa, then children an adults alike enjoyed the family entertainment at the Baptist church.
A large crowd started their Saturday morning with a delicious breakfast at the New Ross Fire hall, before visiting the huge craft fair of fifty excellent vendors at the New Ross Consolidated School. As well, additional vendors displayed their wares at the Legion. Many children visited the Family Resource Centre to sample home-made ice cream, make home-made decorations, and enjoyed a visit with Santa.
Hundreds of visitors dropped by the Ross Farm Museum and enjoyed a wagon ride, homemade treats, craft fair, and craft making. Our Festival concert, held on Saturday evening at the Anglican church, was an enjoyable evening of local talent headlined by the ever popular Rachel MacLean, while some danced the night away at the Legion with Hal Bruce.
1400 people enjoyed a filling and delicious turkey dinner at the Forties Community Centre, and our local u-picks were kept very busy the entire weekend, with car after car leaving the community with one or two balsam firs tied on the roof. Many enjoyed making a wreath at the Bar M Ranch, and visiting our local artists to marvel at their galleries and also enjoyed a visit with our local blacksmith at his forge.
A heart-felt thank you to our many New Ross visitors, for enjoying our many wonderful festival events. Thank you to all of the volunteers who worked so hard to make this weekend a success. And thank you to each of the groups and organizations who participated in this year’s festival.
Hope to see you all back next year!
