Take in some of natures finest.  With our beautiful lakes, you can take advantage of swimming, canoeing, kayaking, fishing and in the winter months try your hand at open lake skating.  There are numerous lakes in New Ross, a few of the most utilized, are Lake Darling, Sand Lake, Lake Ramsey, and Lake Lawson.  Fast Fact: you can travel the Gold River which runs through New Ross all the way to the Atlantic ocean, emptying into the Mahone Bay, near the community of Gold River.  Famed for its salmon fishing, gold mining and logging history, Gold River is one of Nova Scotia’s more famous rivers. It may even start getting attention as a whitewater kayaking destination. Even a famous Prime Minister cooled off with a summer swim there. Pierre Elliot Trudeau visited Killdevils with friends years ago.
