As you sit in your warm living room watching your big screen T.V., let your imagination turn back the clock two hundred years. Now you’re in a small log cabin, huddled in front of an open fireplace hoping that your meagre food supplies will take you through the winter. With no medical help nearby you can only hope the baby’s cough doesn’t get worse. Sometimes you wonder if the promise of free land is worth the hardships.

And yet they stayed. New Ross is still here and so are the descendants of those first settlers, together with many others who came later. In the 200th Anniversary year let’s pause now then to remember the people and events which formed this community.
